Owen & Robinson’s guide to Tissot Watches

Tissot offers one of the largest and most diverse selection of luxury wristwatches in the world. From solid gold cases that house in-house developed movements to classic sports watches and the innovative Tissot T-Touch with a titanium case and a cutting-edge touchscreen – there is a design to match every personality, every profession and every challenge. The most widely recognised collections from the Swiss manufacturer include the T-Touch, the T-Lady, the T-Gold and the T-Sport. The company was founded in the middle of the 19th Century, merging with Omega before becoming a member of the Swatch Group.

Which Tissot watch is for me?

Tissot’s most recognised collections branch off into sub-families, and since there are so many models to each of these sub-categories – exploring the entire collection can take some time. It’s important to note that throughout Tissot’s long and successful heritage, they’ve developed a number of their own innovations. In 1956 the company created the PR516 with aesthetics inspired by the company’s influential presence within the motor racing industry. Before this however, Tissot had been dedicating a considerable amount of time to creating wristwatches for women. In the 1930’s Tissot decided to replace the steel in the regulating organs of their movements with anti-magnetic materials to help improve the performance of their watches. The Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar developed in 2014 was fitted with a barometer, an altitude difference meter, an altimeter and stopwatch, making it the perfect tool for outdoor lovers. By browsing our Tissot watch collection here at Owen & Robinson you’ll find a broad selection of some of the Swiss manufacturer’s finest offerings. There’s Tissot chronograph watches, classic three handed designs, traditional Roman dials, elegant ladies’ diamond-adorned models, bicolour watches combining steel with gold, dynamic PVD coated Tissot watches for sport, classic Tissot watches and those with impressive power reserves.

Tissot watches for diving:

The Tissot Seastar 1000 watch is probably one of the most instantly recognisable Tissot watches from their entire collection. The elegant diver’s watch was developed for water sports lovers and comes in a variety of different designs. These deep sea-friendly diving tools are equipped with an impressive 300 meter water resistance, as well as straps kitted out with a diver’s safety buckle, plus unidirectional rotating bezels in various different colours. Whilst the collection will appeal to professional and amateur divers, it will also sing to those who like bold, sporty timepieces that create huge wrist presence when worn. You can choose from a blue, black or silver dial, along with a fabric strap, a rubber strap or a solid metal bracelet. The Tissot Seastar 1000 Chronograph models incorporate colours of rose gold, a sandy beige or a vibrant orange into their dials and bezels.

Tissot watches for racing;

With their motorcycle-inspired designs, Tissot’s compelling range of T-Race watches feature break disc-style bezels, precise quartz movements for unparalleled accuracy and date magnifiers. Also, perfectly suitable for wearing on the wrist whilst racing, the designs are frequently equipped with supple rubber straps, perforated leather bands and rugged stainless steel bracelets. Numerous special edition models from the T-Race watch collection delivered in vibrant designs are available, including broad 34mm case diameters integrated with 100 meter water resistant capabilities. When Tissot became the official timekeeper for MotoGP it sparked the beginning of their premium wristwatch collection from the T-Sport series. The PR516 models are equipped with patented bracelets featuring holes that mimic the steering wheels inside racing cars.  The “PR” standing for “particularly resistant” refers to the watch’s suspended movement, which is highly protected against both axial and lateral shocks. From our Tissot PR516 watch collection you can choose from a chronograph version or a simpler three handed dial with a day date feature. The chronographs are also injected with a touch of colour seen in the bands wrapping around the polished oush pieces, along with matching second hands and sub-scales hands. Black ceramic bezels are accompanied by either a stainless steel case or a black PVD coated case with a matching bracelet.

Classic Tissot watches;

If you’re looking for a refined dress watch for wearing to special occasions as well as business attire, you’ll be pleased to know that Tissot offer a number of designs that stretch across the breadth of their various collections. For men, the Carson Automatic watch provides a crisp black dial and needle fine stick indexes for the hours, as well as a distinct minute track. Governed by the POWERMATIC 80.111 calibre, the movement’s effortless performance can be viewed through a sapphire caseback. Tissot Carson Premium models also donate a classic look to the wrist and are available in both a three handed dial design and a chronograph option – the former of which features elongated Roman numerals. For ladies, the Tissot Eveytime 30mm small watch in an all-rose gold PVD design provides the time via a simple three-hand dial layout. Men’s versions are delivered on a black dial with stick indexes in rose gold coated detailing. Other classic Tissot watches include the Tissot XL Classic models with blue and black Arabic hour tracks, and the Tissot Tradition watches. These feature the 12 and 6 o’clock locations presented in Arabic numerals and a discreet yet practical date aperture at 3 o’clock.

Tissot watches for Ladies;

Tissot offer a huge selection of ladies wristwatches, from the likes of the Flamingo collection, with its perfectly rounded bezel and bi-colour design, to the Tissot lovely Square, showcasing a unique and contemporary case shape. The Tissot Lovely watch collection is tailored towards those with the daintiest of wrists, whilst the iconic Le Locle collection is home to classic-looking timepieces that feature elements of the Swiss company’s traditional manufacture. Roman numeral hour indexes and elegant yellow gold cases surrounding ivory dials, are symbolic of Tissot’s passion for creating elegant ladies wristwatches with a difference. The Tissot Ladies Tradition 5.5 models represent slim case designs which house impeccable quartz movements at their centre. Automatic ladies Tissot watches include the Ballade Powermatic 80 watch with an elegant steel and yellow gold PVD coated bi-colour case, and a yellow gold coloured bezel surrounded a mother of pearl dial. The watch is powered by Tissot’s independently crafted Powermatic 80 movement which, as its name suggests, provides an impressive 80 hour power reserve.
