A. Lange & Sohne have been creating indulgent Swiss delights of the timekeeping type since the company first began back on 1845. The company fell into oblivion during the 19th century however, when Ferdinand Adolph Lange's manufacturing facilities were bombed during an attack in the Second World War. It was not until his great grandson, Walter Lange decided to re-launched the company in 1990, that some of the finest breed of wristwatch were developed. The company could at last focus on creating beautiful in-house developed movements both automatic and manual winding. The 1815 watch collection is home to some of these impeccable engines, each one executed with detailed hand finishes – every individual component having been hand assembled into place with ultimate precision.
Manual winding A. Lange & Sohne watches have become one of the most sought-after timepieces in the world and it’s not difficult to see how a watch of this time is so special and collectable. It is a pleasant ritual for many a watch owner – a recurring moment and that time each day when the wearer can really connect with his watch. It makes timekeeping even more special. Of course, A. Lange & Sohne put their beautifully manufactured movements on show through the back of the case, where an exhibition window made from sapphire crystal glass will grant the perfect view into the beating heart of a manual wound A. Lange & Sohne watch. This glass material is also integrated with anti reflective and scratch resistant properties to enhance this experience. The blued screws and elegant golden chatons are a sight to behold, as is the perlage decoration, flat polishing, chamfering, black polishing and free style hand engraved floral decoration to some of the most intricate parts of the engine.
